The Anticipated Processing Times For Property Tax Refund

As of August 30, Montana Department of Revenue have received 56,804 online and 48,000 paper filings. That’s a total of 104,804 filings!

DOR announced the anticipated processing times for property tax refund:

  • If you e-filed aapplication using your correct geocode and opted for direct deposit, you should receive your refund in fewer than 5 days.
  • If you e-filed an application using your correct geocode and opted to have a paper check mailed to you, you should receive your refund in fewer than 10 days.
  • If you filed a paper application, it may take several weeks to process.
  • If you did not provide a geocode on your application, it will add substantial time to the refund processing. Our staff will be required to research your property records and add your geocode to your application. It may delay your refund by a few weeks.
